What's New in Firmware v4.9

Upgraded VPN policy, DPI flow control and more

Upgrade Now

Modern networking requires intelligent and visible capabilities for effective management. Firmware v4.9 focuses on delivering more precise network control and improved traffic management capabilities for a more reliable user experience.

Advanced VPN Control and Redundant Security

Having clear VPN tunneling policies improves network security. Firmware v4.9 introduces a new, more predictable tunnel grouping policy, giving you clearer control over which traffic goes through which VPN tunnel.

  • Isolated tunnel groups ensure traffic remains strictly within each tunnel group.
  • Multi-profile failover within groups automatically switches between profiles when failures occur.
  • Redundant Kill Switches grant you the control to block all non-secured traffic on the group or global level.

Important: VPN Kill Switch Reset: Due to the major changes in VPN tunnel failover logic (the new Isolated Group Mode), the Kill Switch for all VPN tunnels will be enabled by default after the upgrade to ensure your traffic remains protected under the new architecture.

Smarter Troubleshooting and Better Performance with DPI

Firmware v4.9 introduces Flow Control, pairing powerful traffic management with real-time data visibility. You can easily pinpoint bandwidth hogs and keep your critical applications running smoothly.

  • Diagnose with Data Statistics: Identify the exact device/application causing a sudden ping spike during a company meeting, like 8K streaming on the family TV.
  • Optimize with Quality of Service (QoS): Enable QoS to prioritize video conferencing and delay streaming packets.
  • Optimize with Smart Queue Management (SQM): Enable SQM to intelligently distribute the bandwidth for smooth video conferencing and streaming.

Note: To prevent processing conflicts, SQM and QoS are mutually exclusive and cannot be enabled at the same time.

Securing Your Smart Home & IoT Devices

Firmware v4.9 brings a dedicated IoT network, isolating vulnerable smart home gadgets for better security as well as ACL for granular device traffic management.

  • Native IoT Network support allows you to isolate smart home devices into a dedicated, secure environment without compromising your primary network's speed or privacy.
  • Access Control List (ACL) lets you manage traffic by connection protocol, device address, and port.

Safer Internet Access for Children

Give parents more control over what kids can access online through a rebuilt, more intuitive system.

  • DPI-powered Content Filtering provides intelligent application-level blocking to secure your network from unwanted content.
  • Reworked Parental Control provides robust control over specific apps, content categories, and access schedules.

Important: As the Parental Control system has been completely reconstructed for better performance, previous configurations will be cleared during the upgrade. You will need to re-configure your rules in the new system.
